SANT POL DE MAR , 45km from Barcelona, is probably your best bet if you're heading for just one spot on the coast. Small, and as unspoiled as these coastal villages get, it offers rocky coves and crowd-free swimming around fifteen-minutes' walk from the station, and several restaurants along the main street. From the train station, cross the tracks and walk to the left, around the corner.
